Shatter me …an unoriginal tale

Okay let the ranting begin

Writing style

The writing style in this book that everyone praises for being poetic , I found just genrally simple and childlike.There were no peculiar adjectives , phrases or anything, just the repeat of “A white bird with streaks of gold like a crown atop its head.I was generally banging my head against the wall everytime I read this quote ….like we heard you the first time !

Plot

I found the plot really unoriginal similar to …red queen , the selection , divergent …and basically every dystopian out there .This book didn’t create a new world like The Hunger Games did it just took aspects of lots of dystopian and combined them , world hunger , evil dictator , world in ruins ….seen it before .Even though dystopian does mean to to rise up against a dictator with a rebel organisation, this version of that has been done so many times it’s no longer interesting.Its just repeated …a girl with an amazing gift is the leader of the revolution ..she started it all. Like there are other tropes out there .Speaking of tropes the insta love in this story was too much …he was nice to her for about five minutes and then she decide she was in love even though she never experienced this before , this book just keeps giving!

Characters

If I’m being truly honest the only character I enjoyed in this novel was Kenji and he only had a few lines compared to juliette….Juliette . I found her character narration so boring and unfeeling that I just couldn’t stand it and I really didn’t appreciate the 3 pages of “I am not insane “…fun!Moving to to Adam I just didn’t believe his story of how he was in love with her the whole time …am If you were why didn’t you help her at all I know she was the crazy one but if you “loved her ” you should have at least been nice.Finally Warner, I really didn’t think there was anything special about him ..rich dad , power everything a normal villain is .Please give this story some volume and lighten him up !

Sum up

If I was to rate this I honestly think I would give it a 1.5 stars even though so many people love it which I truly dont understand at all ??I dont think I’ll continue this series though I have heard it gets better but the protagonist Juliette just infuriates me to no end that I think I won’t be able to handle it
